Let me tell you why it didn’t fully live up to my expectations: A little bit about this book… To give you a little summary of what is to come – I thought it was great, I did like it, but not enough to give it the full five stars. And THEN it’s also the story of Sherlock Holmes’ little sister – what could be better than that? So OBVIOUSLY I was sold – I had to read this book. (Feb.The first thing that caught my attention here was the cover – I mean LOOK at it! The interplay of red and black, the intricate little details that wait to be discovered…it just suits the story perfectly! And then it is set in Victorian England – my most favourite of all the (literary) eras. Readers will look forward to hearing this heroine's unique voice again soon. Enola shows herself to be an intelligent, rational, resourceful and brave protagonist. Along the way, Enola becomes involved in the search for the missing Viscount Tewksbury, Marquess of Basilwether, and hair-raising adventures ensue.

And always I had counted upon setting things right after I was grown. Readers will find the teen's internal monologue quite entertaining ('Always I felt to blame for-for whatever, for breathing-because I had been born indecently late in Mother's life.

Her mother has left behind a little book of ciphers, so the 14-year-old disguises herself and heads to London, where she hopes to outwit her brothers and find her mother.
